"The piano writing is really thrilling, and needs a true virtuoso to bring it off in performance, something which Russian pianist Olga Solovieva so very comfortably achieves, playing with
all the power and stylistic empathy the music demands. [...] This new release is a most compelling one, not only because it contains such attractive late-Romantic music, extremely well-executed
and faithfully captured on disc, but because Alexey Stanchinsky really does have original things to say (Philip R. Buttall, MusicWeb International, about CD with Alexey Stanchinsky's music).
"Pianist Olga Solovieva blasts into the works with an imperious, crystalline authority that serves it to perfection. How judiciously this pianist measures the weight and mood of each item within her entire programme" (Howard Smith, CD Spotlight - about recordings of Galynin)
"The performances are exceptional." (Tim Ashley, The Guardian about CD with Boris Tchaikovsky's Piano Quintet)
"The Vanburgh Quartet and pianist Olga Solovieva put real intellectual muscle behind the physical weight of their playing." (Philip Clark, Gramophone about CD with Boris Tchaikovsky's Piano Quintet)
"...Schumann’s piano music holds so many happy memories for me that I was looking forward to Solovieva’s performance, not having heard her in anything but ensemble music last year
and been bowled over then by her sheer musicianship. She did not disappoint. Singing (noiselessly) as she played, she was totally absorbed in these miniature dance masterpieces
as she perfectly captured their magic. Like the music’s reluctance to leave go of the penultimate chord’s notes, I was sorry that her performance had come to the end." (Declan Townsend,
Irish Examiner - about the performance of Papillons at the West Cork Chamber Music Festival)
"For pianist Olga Solovieva there can be nothing but praise. She is clearly dedicated to Lyadov’s cause, presenting each piece in the most favourable light. Solovieva is also a real virtuoso,
and some very difficult piano writing rolls right off her fingers. The more lyrical essays are shaped with a loving hand, and there is a feeling of freshness and discovery as she works her
way through the early pieces on the disc, sustaining interest throughout." (Donald Manildi, International Record Review - about recordings of Lyadov)
"This disc marks the start of the first complete cycle of his piano music, and is a reminder of what a fine composer he could be within the narrow range in which he worked. <...> Olga
Solovieva plays it all with great finesse, but is also not afraid to really let rip when required" (Tim Ashley, Guardian - about recordings of Lyadov)
"The supreme clarity of the sound quality adds to the elegance of the performance... Pianist Olga Solovieva brings a velvet, delicate touch to the virtuoso piano part." (Catherine Nelson, The Strad - about recordings of Taneyev)
"Olga Solovieva, as both soloist and accompanist, is one of the best advocates Taneyev has. Urgently recommended." (Jerry Dubins, Fanfare - about recordings of Taneyev)
"Solovieva's brilliant performance of the rare solo piano works makes this album well worthwhile..." (Mike D. Brownell, All Music Guide - about recordings of Taneyev)
"The pianist is sensitive and supportive throughout. ..." (Raymond S. Tuttle, International Record Review - about chamber/vocal recordings of Boris Tchaikovsky, TOCC0046)
"Olga Solovieva plays with fiery conviction throughout..." (David Fanning, Gramophone - about recordings of Galynin)
"Pianist Olga Solovieva, also known for her peerless advocacy for criminally underrated composer Boris Tchaikovsky, puts the best face on this Russian bad boy with crisp fingerwork and a
joyous sense of abandon and forcefulness, yet never to the extent where her enthusiasm clouds the waters" (Uncle Dave Lewis, All Music - about recordings of Galynin)
"Excellent young Russian Olga Solovieva (Albany, TROY 749) confirms that Tchaikovsky's piano music is tremendously rewarding, often highly individual..." (Murray McLachlan, Magazine
'Piano')
“…Olga Solovieva plays with steely-fingered brilliance: she’s in complete control of what she’s doing, her rhythmic clarity demanding especial praise.” (“International Record Review” -
about Albany CD)
"Olga Solovieva tackles the difficult Concerto with an arsenal of technical gifts and interpretive panache" (Robert Cummings, Classical Net Review - about Naxos CD with Boris
Tchaikovsky).
"Olga Solovieva plays this music with relaxed aplomb and perfect sympathy..." (Mark Lehman, "American Record Guide" - about Albany CD)
"...Played with vigorous execution and fiery expression by Olga Solovieva... Solovieva plays with clean execution and even tone..." (Blair Sanderson, All Music Guide - about Albany
CD)
"On this new Naxos Olga Solovieva plays with incisive precision and ferocity, persuasively championing Tchaikovsky..." (Mark Lehman, "American Record Guide" - about Naxos CD with Boris
Tchaikovsky)
"... an outstanding piano player..." ("Nieuwe Vlaamse Muziek Revue")
